Will the electric bike kill the electric car?

Probably not. I'll write more on this in a minute.

Scientists announce liquid solar panels

A fascinating look into the future of renewable technology occurred recently as scientists at the University of Southern California announced the development of technology to produce liquid solar cells, that can be painted, printed or sprayed onto services.

The applications for this new technology are near limitless, but potential applications could include a solar spray, turning practically anything into a cheap and effective power generation source. As this technology does not include high temperatures, it also potentially allows the printing of photovoltaics on plastics that could not normally handles the stresses involved in other processes.

There are, however, several hurdles for this technology to overcome, not least of which is the use of cadmium selenide - which, while useful for this project is hazardous to health and the environment. Once these are overcome, however, this looks like it could be a truly revolutionary technology.
